Meet The Resolution Tech Team in Linköping, Sweden
We met up with Tomas Ahlström, Studio Manager at Resolution Tech in Linköping, to talk about the new office and what’s going on with the team there.
Hey Tomas, how are things in Linköping?
It’s great, thanks for asking. We joined the Resolution family in November 2021. It has been exciting and inspiring to learn about all the innovative games and projects in progress. Now our team is growing and Resolution Tech has onboarded several team members the last few weeks.
So what did you do before joining Resolution Games?
I have been in the games industry since the late nineties. My first job was at UDS (one of the fastest growing game studios in Sweden at the time) as a 3D-modeler where I worked with the first generation PlayStation. Others were better artists than me so I eventually left to work in management and entrepreneurship.
Why does Resolution Games have an office in Linköping?
In early 2020 I co-founded the game studio Zero Index, here in Linköping. The idea was to provide established game studios with competence from our region since we have a strong community of indie studios and talent looking for interesting challenges. Zero Index was basically a consultant company for the games industry. Resolution Games became our biggest and most important client. After working together, we felt that bringing our teams together officially to expand on the work Resolution Games is doing in the industry made a great deal of sense. So in November 2021, Resolution Games acquired Zero Index and we became one.
What do you do at Resolution Tech?
Making games is complex. Especially when you are in the forefront of the virtual and augmented reality industry. It takes the best engineers and creative minds to succeed. In Linköping we are specializing in areas such as porting, networking, optimization and all the stuff that games are made of. We find the best programmers in our region and serve the company with cutting edge algorithms and expertise.
So you don’t make games? Just the underlying code?
What is the difference haha. We work closely with the teams in Stockholm making hit games such as Demeo and Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs. So we definitely make games. Working together between our different offices is the best way of making magic.
Is your team hiring?
At the moment we are looking for senior programmers, preferably with several years of experience in game development. If you are passionate about VR and AR, gaming and cool technology, you can apply here.
Finally, what is the best part about making VR and AR games?
For me games are all about mind blowing experiences and exploration of virtual spaces. Developing games for new platforms is always exciting, especially for VR and AR. We are creating history every day.
