Life at Resolution: Ting, Games Producer & Line Manager

Our Life at Resolution series continues with a deep dive into our Games Producer & Line Manager Ting’s role at our studio.

What is your favorite part about working at Resolution Games?

My favorite part is that we work in small teams, with a very flat team structure. This means that ideas are constantly being heard, discussed, implemented and tested. We’re also very fast at making decisions!

You mentioned enjoying working in small teams, what makes these groups so special?

I always look for certain qualities when interviewing our candidates:

  • Passion about their own field

  • Being proactive

  • Humbleness (active listening, be open about weaknesses, having a “quiet ego”)

  • Being agile, adaptable and open to change

Working in a team of people with these qualities can really create a great team culture of passion, humility and creation, and I believe great teamwork leads to great products. When we make a new game feature, we first open a channel for discussion and gather feedback. Then we make a prototype, conduct playtests, gather feedback and iterate on the gameplay. During the process, everyone on the team is involved and contributes to the game.

What is an example of a fun challenge or project you've worked on?

Right now I’m working on a super fun project, Tinyverse, together with our Senior Creative Director Tom Hall. Tinyverse is our vision for creating the next generation of immersive social experience. At Resolution, we really love the saying “people come for the game but stay for the community” and virtual reality has the power to connect people in a way that no other technology can. While the concept of a vast metaverse is incredibly interesting when it comes to future potential, there is always an appetite for experiences that bring people together in a more familiar setting based on their shared interests. So, we’re creating a series of ‘tinyverses’ in our multiplayer games. Players love the game and gather together in the Tinyverse (Heroes’ Hangout in Demeo and the Ozo Lounge in Blaston) to meet and hang out with other players. They can start an adventure with people they meet, play a bunch of mini games and do other fun activities together.

What are some fun things that happen at Resolution Games outside the daily work routine?

We have a lot of fun activities at Resolution outside our daily work routine. The one I like most is called Gameplay Share & Enjoy. We have this event regularly organized by Mathieu, our Chief Creative Officer. Anyone can present a game idea to the whole company. People will ask questions and give feedback. All these game ideas will become our idea pool and you never know which idea will turn into our next real project.

What excites you about being in the VR/AR games space?

This thing that excites me most about the VR/AR game space is the sense of immersion and the various ways to interact. This perspective gets enhanced constantly everytime new technology is developed. From 3 DoF headset to standalone 6 DoF, and one-button-click control to 6 DoF controllers and hand tracking, people got more immersive experiences. New headsets are on the way too, like Meta’s new headset Project Cambria, Sony’s next-generation of PSVR and Apple’s rumored new MR headsets, etc. I’m excited for new design game experiences as headset technology evolves.

What do you look forward to in your professional development at Resolution Games?

I look forward to working with more projects and helping improve the general process of our projects at Resolution. Join me! jobs.resolutiongames.com
