What Equipment Do I Need to Play a VR Game?

What VR headset and equipment do I need to play a VR game? This is a question we’re asked a lot and we’re happy to tell you that the answer is really simple.

The main thing you need to keep in mind is play space. VR games often involve moving your arms around and sometimes moving your body, and you want to make sure that you won’t be hitting any obstacles or walls.

Secondly, if you have a wireless headset, like the Meta Quest 2 or Pico 4, then you don’t need anything else. Everything you need to play a VR game is inside of that headset, you just need to make sure that your headset is charged and that your controllers have enough battery life left in them. However, if you have a wired or tethered headset, like the Valve Index or HTC Vive, then you will need a gaming computer to run the headset. Be sure to check the minimum specs needed to run a headset, as well as the games you’re interested in playing, as not all gaming PC’s are created equal.

Finally, if you want to, there are many accessories you can purchase for your headset to enhance your gameplay experience such as fitness and haptics accessories, but none of these are necessary to play a game. We also suggest putting a fan in front of you and having the airflow going towards you so you always know which direction you’re standing so you don’t get lost in your surroundings.

We hope you now feel better equipped to play a VR game. If you have any other questions that you’d like us to answer on the blog feel free to tweet us
